Halloween Parade

Our Halloween Parade is on Tuesday, October 31st at 8:30 Am. We ask that participating students arrive in their costumes to be ready for the parade. Students will not be allowed to go home to change. Parents, please allow students to return promptly to class following the parade. 

The following Halloween Costume guidelines must be observed:

  • Students may only wear masks during the parade.

  • Replica weapons are NOT permitted in school.

  • Costumes may not be demeaning to any race, religion, nationality, disability or gender.

  • Costumes may not cause a significant disruption or distraction to the educational program. 

For those not observing Halloween, a special activity has been planned and appropriate supervision has been secured.

Red Ribbon Week

Our school is participating in Red Ribbon Week. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign® is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a drug-free America. Our school will be participating in themed dress  

  • Monday: Sock it to Drugs! Don’t let drugs mix you up. Crazy Socks Day! 

  • Tuesday: We are “Red-y to Live a Drug Free Life”. Wear a red shirt to mark Red Ribbon week.  

  • Wednesday: Too Smart for Drugs- wear your school shirt or favorite college gear or colors! 

  • Thursday: Winning Teams don’t do Drugs- Wear your favorite team’s jersey or colors 

  • Friday: Put a “Cap” on Drugs Day- Wear a hat or cap today! 

 

Families can participate with a home decorating contest by decorating your Home front door, mailbox or fence with a Red Ribbon (double-looped) and this year’s theme: “Be Kind To Your Mind. Live Drug Free.™"  Snap A Photo & Upload. Winners will receive an iPad and $1,000 for our school.   For more details and a list of terms and  conditions, visit www.redribbon.org/contest

gOT TALENT? COME AUDITION FOR THE FALL FEST TALENT SHOW!

Dorris Place Booster Club will be holding auditions for the Fall Fest Talent show. Auditions are open to all grades, but spots are limited. Every auditioner must fill out a parent permission slip. Sign-up sheet will be in the office. We can't wait to see how talented our students are!

Coffee with the Principal

Please attend our virtual Coffee with the Principal meeting Wednesdaym Sept. 6th at 5:00 PM for our first Every School Safe Mandatory Safety Training Module to learn about our mandatory training for staff, parents and 6th grade students.   At the end of this module, we will have developed greater awareness and understanding of:

  • The four types of child abuse and neglect (review)

  • What grooming for child sexual abuse is

  • Resources you can access if someone you know needs help

 6th grade parents, we highly encourage you to attend to review the 6th grade safety slides.

Back To School Night

Back To School Night

Back to School Night

One important way to get involved is to attend Back to School Night on Tuesday August 29th from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. We will have two sessions for families with multiple children. The first presentation will be from 5:00 - 5:40 p.m. and the second presentation will be from 5:50 - 6:30 p.m. Our Back to School Night will end promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Don’t forget to attend our GATE parent meeting and Master Plan program informational meeting at 4:30 p.m. in the school auditorium.
